Sites see you in

United States

IP address
216.73.217.11

With ZoneBlade on, this is the country you chose for this tab. Location databases differ a little, so the odd site may place this address somewhere else. This page saves neither.

What your IP address gives away

Every site you visit sees your IP address. From it they can usually tell your country, often your town, and your internet provider. They use that to choose the prices, language and catalogue you see, to show local adverts, and to recognise you from one visit to the next, even without cookies.

How to hide it

A VPN gives sites a different address, in a country you choose, and encrypts your connection on the way. ZoneBlade does it in Chrome and Edge for free: unlimited data in 6 countries (the United Kingdom, Germany, France, the United States, Japan and Australia), no account and no ads. Turn it on and reload this page to see the change.

It can also give each tab its own country. See a VPN per tab or how to view a website from another country.

Questions

What is my IP address?

It's the address your internet connection uses to reach websites, shown at the top of this page. Every site you visit sees it.

What can someone tell from my IP address?

Roughly where you are, usually the country and often the town, and which internet provider you use. Sites use it to choose prices, languages and what's available, and to recognise you between visits.

How do I hide my IP address?

Use a VPN: sites then see the VPN's address instead of yours. ZoneBlade does it for free in Chrome and Edge, with unlimited data in 6 countries and no account.

Why does this page show a different country from the one I chose?

Location databases differ a little, so the odd site may place an address somewhere else. With ZoneBlade on, this page shows what most sites see.

Does this page save my IP address?
